Fertility Treatment for Men and Women
Can Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Wilson Acupuncture help you get pregnant?
Frequently, infertility is caused by imbalances in the body, whether in terms of hormones, body functions or other factors. For couples who prefer not to undergo treatments in Western medicine, TCM offers an alternative route.
Based on 5,000 years of wisdom, TCM is founded on the concept of a balance of Qi in the body. Practitioners believe in guiding you to health by regulating your yin and yang levels and strengthening weak organs.
Over time, Western medicine has come to appreciate TCM. Increasingly, many medical conditions are linked with hormonal imbalances and cell malfunctioning.
How Can TCM Help Me Get Pregnant?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is considered beneficial for both men and women, so both partners should consult the practitioner together when trying to conceive. The benefits can include:
Improving the ovaries’ ability to produce quality eggs
Improving sperm count and mobility
Reducing dampness that can cause blockages like cysts and fibroids
Increasing the blood circulation in your reproductive organs
Balancing your hormones e.g. increasing progesterone and reducing androgens
Strengthening overall immunity
Fighting stress and improving emotional well-being
Reducing the side effects of IVF drugs
Lowering the risk of miscarriage
At Wilson Acupuncture Victoria we have had many years of success in helping patients conceive families. We will first give you a consultation and explanation of how we will proceed. We then put you on a course of treatment to regulate your body to restore balance. Treatments usually include brewing herbal medicine and or acupuncture, depending on your needs.
The Success Rate For TCM Herbal Treatments
Although the outcome for any given individual cannot be predicted, the clinical studies conducted indicate that about 70% of all cases of infertility (male and female) treated by Chinese herbs resulted in pregnancy or restored fertility. Depending on the particular study and the types of infertility treated, success rates ranged from about 50% up to more than 90%. Included in these statistics are cases of infertility involving obstruction of the fallopian tubes, amenorrhea, absent ovulation, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, low sperm count, non-liquification of semen, immune response to semen, and other causes.
At Wilson Acupuncture we have many years experience using fertility herbs to help our patients. We can integrate the ability to directly use traditional and modern methods of therapy. The success rates are very good as a result.
Duration of Treatment to Attain Fertility
In the TCM clinical studies, daily or periodic use of herbs usually resulted in restored fertility within three to six months. One advantage of the TCM herbal approach is that even if pregnancy does not occur, strong benefits to health happen because the herbs address imbalances that affect other aspects of health besides infertility.
